These knit designs were created on Brother domestic machines, Passap machines, and Stoll and Dubied double bed machines. I also used Shima and the Apex3 system.

Machine Knitting

Celestial

This collection was inspired by Gothic cathedral architecture, particularly St. Mary's Basilica in Krakow, Poland and Uppsala Cathedral in Uppsala, Sweden. Soaring pointed arches, intricate ceiling designs, and gleaming windows create structures that reach for the heavens. The intended end use for these knits are tanks for the Pre-Fall season which can be layered with cardigans for the Fall/Winter season.

Federal Structures

This collection contains samples knitted on Dubied industrial and Brother domestic knitting machines. Inspired by monuments and buildings in Washington, D.C., I used neutral colors to capture the angles and textures of my inspiration. This collection is intended for use in women's sweaters.

Shelter

A collection of knit accessories for my Senior Capstone. I drew inspiration from tortoise shells and medieval protective garments. I developed two new stitch methods for this collection. The first was programmed to knit flaps of jersey on the front bed and then transfer it to the back bed. The second created channels in double-layer fabric that could then be stuffed to create a cushioned, quilt-like fabric.

Northern Lights Knits

Inspired by the natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights, I used geometric and organic shapes to capture the stunning shapes of the lights. This collection was programmed on the Apex3 and knit on Shima.
